Ningisai Wakaoneni (55) from Chimanimani killed his wife, Enia Maronga, (41) with a pestle after he suspected her of infidelity.
Manicaland Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident which took place in Kutseya village. On the day of the murder, Wakaoneni invited his wife into their kitchen hut to discuss the matter and she complied. Whilst they were discussing the issue a row ensued and Wakaoneni reportedly started assaulting Maronga with fists and she fell to the ground. He allegedly picked a pestle and struck his wife three times on the head and back.
Maronga sustained three deep cuts on the head. The couple’s 15-year-old daughter screamed for help and neighbours attended the incident. The wife was rushed to Mutambara Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead on admission.
