Dokora accused of causing chaos by introducing new curriculum without consultation

Minister of education Lazarus Dokora has been accused of causing chaos in the education sector.  Dokora is being accused of introducing the new curriculum without adequate preparations and without making the necessary consultations to the stakeholder’s in the education sector

Former Minister of education and DEokora’s predecessor David Coltart said:

I’m deeply concerned about what my successor is doing to education,

Dokora has also been slammed by the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe  (PTUZ) on the same issue. PTUZ president, Takavafira Zhou said:

This move is not only intransigent and callous, but also a monumental injustice, impermeable to reason and facts.
Fundamentally, the syllabi are not readily available in schools. The teaching material or textbooks for the new curricula are not readily available, yet there are completely new subjects that have been introduced such as Heritage Studies and Economic History.

Zimbabwe Christian Alliance leader, Useni Sibanda, called for parents and teachers to resist the new curriculum.  Said  Sibanda:

Dokora rushed to implement the curriculum, this needs to be opposed by citizens. These are our children, we need to have a thorough input into what will be taught.

In the new curriculum for Ordinary Level students have to do 7 compulsory subjects.
