Muyaphi Chinguno of Zanu-PF won the Chimanimani West Ward 8, by-election. Chinguno became the councillor for the ward after posting 1 654 votes. He defeated Isaiah Mushungo of the National Constitutional Assembly who managed to poll 339 votes.
The local government seat fell vacant after the expulsion of former councillor, Joe Zviuya from Zanu PF. The election was described by ZEC as generally peaceful.
