Mkwananzi files ConCourt Application challenging Mugabe’s fitness to rule

Activist and one of the leaders of #Tajamuka, Promise Mkwananzi has filed a Constitutional Court application challenging president Mugabe‘s fitness to lead Zimbabwe. Among other things Mkwananzi cites the President’s advanced age saying he was old and frail. Mugabe will be turning 93 on 21 February. Mkwananzi also claims that the President is in willful violation of the constitution through gross abuse of human rights. The ConCourt will look into the matter on 8 February.

An excerpt of Mkwananzi’s application reads:

He (Mugabe) is old and frail and no longer has the agility and concentration to superintend over critical affairs of the state. His incapacity (to lead) poses a real danger to the stability and security of the country. He must accept his fate and go to rest.
