Residents accuse City of Harare of focusing on trivial issues instead of addressing the causes of Typhoid
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) have accused Harare City Council of being disingenuous in the fight against typhoid. CHRA said that the council is focusing on vendors, who do not have as big an impact compared when it comes to typhoid compared to unsafe drinking water and proper sewage disposal systems. The city of Harare gave food vendors 48 hours to cease operations in the City
In a statement CHRA said:
Unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation and hygiene services are among the key drivers of typhoid and need urgent attention if the typhoid outbreak is to be contained.
FeedbackCHRA urged the city to focus instead on improving service delivery, through providing proper ablution facilities in the city centre, providing safe water and improving drainage systems.
