Kwekwe City Council issues 48 hour ultimatum to illegal food outlets, threatens to arrest non-complying owners

Kwekwe City Council has also issued a 48 hour ultimatum to food vendors in the city.

The local authority is giving vendors until the 15th of this month to close their outlets failure of which will result in the seizure and their arrest. Earlier this week, the Harare City Council also issued a 48 hour ultimatum to vendors which was however challenged by the Queen of Grace ZimAsset vendors in court.

In a memo Acting Director of Health Services for Kwekwe, J. Bandana said:

In view of the recent outbreak of Typhoid fever in Harare and Mutare, I hereby order that you close your illegal food outlets by the 15th of January, 2017 failure to do that will result in the seizure of the food stuffs and your arrest.
I trust that you comply to obviate embarrassment and inconvenience. Thank you Yours faithfully
