New political party says it will compensate Gukurahundi victims, but will not go after perpetrators

Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZPP) a new political party was s launched in Bulawayo yesterday.  The party was formed by South African based Zimbabweans.   The new party ruled out forming a coalition.  ZPP said that their main focus was on Zimbabwe and not on Zanu-PF.  They also said that a coalition would result in a bloated government.

The ZPP leadership also addressed the issue of Gukurahundi, saying that they would compensate the victims.  However, they made it clear that they would not go after any perpetrators.

ZPP president, Blessing Kasiyamhuru said:

On the issue of Gukurahundi, we are going to inherit the crimes our elders committed. Ticharipa mhosva dzose dzakaitwa (We are going to atone for our elders’ wrongs). But one thing which we are certainly not going to do is to go after individuals or institutions
