Econet complains of unlevel playing field, blames other operators for not complying

Econet Wireless released another press statement lamenting the unlevel playing field in the telecoms sector.  This comes after Econet were the only operator to introduce new data tariffs which were prohibitive.  NetOne and Telecel did not change their data tariffs.  NetOne went as far as saying that they were appealing to Potraz to revise their position.

Econet said such a situation was not fair, as only Econet customers got to feel the brunt of the new high data costs. In the statement Econet said:

Whilst continuing to engage POTRAZ concerning the data floor pricing directive, Econet Wireless is reverting to the old data tariffs.

It became apparent after implementing the POTRAZ directive that Econet Wireless was the only operator which had complied with the data floor pricing.
