After the shock of Econet Wireless’ new prohibitive data costs, a lot of social media users asked questions of their Ministers on social media platforms. Some of the people asked Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Jonathan Moyo, as he is one of the most accessible Ministers.
Prof. Moyo agreed that data costs are now high and said that a lot of people may be priced out business. Speaking on Twitter Professor Moyo said:
Service providers & users face a real risk & possibility of being priced out of business!

In a later tweet Prof. Moyo questioned a user on whether it is data that must fall or the price of data. Addressing the hashtag #DataMustFall, Professor Moyo tweeted:
What does
#DataMustFall mean? Is it the data that must fall or it is its price that must fall?

Use of over pricing, instead of technology, to curb Internet access or manage social media is primitive elitism & promotes underdevelopment! https://t.co/nKf2GrRGW4
