Econet increases internet prices

The country’s biggest Mobile Network Operator Econet Wireless have taken full advantage of Potraz’s directive and introduced new tariffs for mobile data.  The new tariffs are very steep and will see data going for  10 cents per megabyte.  The major difference is that the company scrapped off all “promotion” bundles, which made it easier for consumers to get more affordable data, although only for very short periods of time.

Using a bundle one could buy 250 MB for $1. However, with the new pricing regime, you need $10 to get almost the same amount of data, as $10 will only get you 300 MB

Whatsapp bundles have been removed, readjusted.  The new bundles are not pegged as daily, weekly or monthly.  This is likely to see, a number of people failing to use social media unless they have access to wifi.  To see the new tariffs dial *143#.
