Tawanda Ncube (41) of Nkulumane suburb in Bulawayo was arrested for possessing 6,5kg of dagga with an estimated street value of $6 500 after he was caught carrying the dagga which was wrapped in a newspaper inside a black bag by police detectives in Tshabalala.
Ncube appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya who remanded him in custody to today after he pleaded guilty. In his defence Ncube said he was selling the dagga so as to get money to fend for his family which include money to pay school fees for his three children.
Prosecuting Mr Best Hweta said on December 28, detectives from the CID stopped and searched Ncube along Rangemore drive in Tshabalala suburb. He said the detectives recovered the dagga which the security guard was carrying and he revealed that he had left some dagga at his residential place after being interrogated.
