Hwange cheetah makes worldwide headlines
An “iconic” cheetah from Hwange Nationa Park has to shot to global fame. The cheetah, named HNP013, gave birth to 5 cubs in the wild and managed to successfully keep them alive and together for a whole year. This is a very rare phenomenon in the animal kingdom. Experts are positive that this bodes well for the local tourism industry.
Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) spokesperson, Caroline Washaya-Moyo, speaking to the Daily News said:
She has become the only cheetah in the country to see her young ones survive for this long period.
FeedbackThis litter of five is her second litter and as Zimbabwe, we certainly hope she manages to keep all five to the end.
She is indeed an iconic cheetah. The cheetah in Zimbabwe is in appendix one of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites).
