Senior government officials demand special treatment at tollgates

Senior government officials are reportedly demanding special treatment at tollgates.  The officials are reportedly against being made to wait while their exemption certificates are being scanned. The officials are advocating for a    Number Plate Recognition System (NPRS).  The NPRS  is able to scan the number plates from approaching cars and automatically lift the boom gate.

Intertoll country operations manager Joseph Mafanuke addressing a parliamentary panel on Transport said:

They just want to come and pass with very minimum delay that has been our main reason for pushing for the NPRS.
