Harare City Council workers beg for $5 from Mayor after going 8 months without pay

Harare City Council workers last week pleaded with Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni to be given $5 to cover their transport costs.  The workers have gone for more 8 months without being paid.    The mayor was  distributing Christmas presents to patients at the Beatrice Infectious Diseases Hospital in the capital.

Manyenyeni said:

We appreciate your service to patients but our budget is not enough. I am aware of the problems that you are facing and I have had several calls from some of you.

I assure you that we are working hard to normalise the situation.
