Fire deputy ministers and trim parliament to cut costs, President urged

President Robert Mugabe has been urged to address the economic recession by cutting down government costs.  Economists are urging the President to trim down a bloated parliament as well as to reduce the size of his cabinet by scrapping of Deputy Minister positions.

The economists aired this view at the two-day national Civil Society Organizations conference organized by Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition.

Economist  Prosper Chitambara said:

Government must fire all deputy ministers and reduce the size of parliament because all the taxes are going to them at the expense of nation building.

Zimbabwe has  350 MPS  and more than 40 Cabinet ministers.  All of whom, are entitled to government salaries and vehicle.
