Harare City Council buying water treatment chemicals on daily basis despite hefty salaries for executives

Harare City Council is gambling with people’s lives as it is buying water treatment chemicals on a daily basis.  HCC is claiming lack of funds after implementing this hand to mouth approach.  Worryingly  though, the council is paying hefty salaries to its executive which are over and above the government regulations.

An official who spoke to the Sunday Mail said:

The arrangement of buying chemicals daily is simply not proper. This clearly shows lack of proper planning which may result in water production capacity being reduced or the water treatment plant being temporarily closed.
