Mugabe criticizes Zanu officials for "shameless and unbridled" ambition over succession
President Robert Mugabe criticized party officials obsessed with succession. The president has refused to name a successor, leading to at least two factions vying to succeed him.
Addressing delegates at the ongoing Zanu-PF conference in Masvingo, Mugabe said:
There is nothing wrong in expressing an ambition, an aspiration, aspiring for position in leadership or for any other higher post in the party,” Mugabe said.
FeedbackBut I have, however, frowned upon shameless and unbridled ambition, which seeks to ride roughshod over others. The tradition of our party is never one of bickering over party positions.
