Activist and National Vendors Union of Zimbabwe (Navuz) president Sten Zvorwadza was acquitted at the Harare Magistrate’s Court. Magistrate Vongai Guwuriro acquitted the pro-democracy activist and noted that no reasonable court could have convicted him on the charge of disorderly conduct. The charge stems from a 2013 case.
After his acquittal Zvorwadza said:
I have no complaints on the way my case was handled, I have been loyal since 2013 and obeyed every court order. What I am happy about is that there seems to be a new crop of magistrates that are impartial and do not depend on their bosses for instructions, but instead, apply the law as it is
