Prophet steals from congregants, replaces USD with bearer cheques and leaves during prayer

Simbarashe Siziba, a self-proclaimed prophet from Gweru pleaded guilty to Fraud and Theft.  He had appeared before Magistrate Musaiona Shotgame who remanded him in custody to December 16 for sentencing.

Prosecutor Ms Senzeni Maphosa told the court:

… the accused person (Siziba) ordered the complainant to give him the money ($200) so that he could pray for it. After some minutes of praying, the accused then gave the complainant a white cloth and told her to untie it after two months.

However, the complainant untied the cloth after a week and discovered that her money was missing. Inside the prophet’s cloth, there were only old bearer cheques and leaves.
