MDC-T to appeal 20 year sentence for trio, says sentence a mockery of justice

The MDC-T has released a press statement commenting on the sentencing of its members to 20 years. The opposition party says the sentencing of Yvonne Musarurwa and Tungamirai Madzokere together with former national executive member, Last Maengehama for the murder of Inspector Petros Mutedzi is a travesty of justice.

In the press statement released on their Facebook page, they said that the trio is innocent. They also said that they have instructed their legal team to make an appeal against both conviction and sentence in the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. Said MDC-T:

As a party,we maintain that our comrades are not guilty of the crime of murder nor of any competent verdict thereunder. As such, our legal team has already been instructed to note an.appeal against both conviction and sentence in the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. The sentence of twenty years imprisonment with labour induces a sense of shock and outrage.

They also said that the trio are being victimised by Zanu PF. The party also said that they will continue to show solidarity the three until they are absolved of the charges.
