Govt urges local authorities not to rely on funds from treasury for road development projects

Speaking at the All Road Authorities Engineering Summer School 2016, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Engineer Michael Madanha urged local authorities not to rely on funds from treasury for road development projects.

He urged local authorities to get into public private partnerships. Madanha’s comments comes at a time when local authorities have complained that funds provided by the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration Authority (ZINARA) are inadequate. ZINARA Board Chairperson, Mr Albert Mugabe said local authorities must copy the build and transfer model that has been employed by Government in the Beitbridge-Chirundu highway.
