Civil servants feel duped as government changes goal posts on stands deal

Civil servants are feeling duped by the government over the residential stands deal.  This comes after Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa  announced that the government will be deducting $50 pe month from salaries.  The civil servants had been told that stands will be going for as little as $5 per square metre.  Therefore the $50 per month came as a shock.

Apex Council chairperson Cecilia Alexander said

How I wish we could have received this information before registering people because I know the people I represent, I know how much they are struggling with the little they have.

Honestly speaking looking at the figures most people will not be able to afford even a high density stand.

We are a bit worried because people were filling the forms thinking this was an incentive and for many an incentive means it’s a bonus but this is a surprise
