Govt bans more goods from being imported

Presenting the 2017 National Budget, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa proposed that flour and blankets be removed from the Open General Import Licence under Statutory Instrument 64/2016.

Presenting the budget, Chinamasa proposed that wheat flour be removed from the Open General Import Licence as well as semi-finished blankets which he says have been affecting manufacturers of blankets. Chinamasa also proposed a ban on selected fabrics but said that clothing and furniture manufacturers will, however, continue to access fabrics duty free, under the clothing manufacturers rebate.
