Mushohwe defends Mugabe's State of the Nation address, says cash crisis none of his concern

Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com, Information Minister Dr Christopher Mushowe defended President Robert Mugabe‘s state of the nation address which has been criticised by opposition parties as failing to address the country’s problems such as the cash crisis and the issue of civil servant bonuses.

Mushohwe said that the people who wanted Mugabe to address the cash crisis should take their concerns to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor, Dr John Mangudya. On the issue of civil servant bonuses, Mushohwe said:

The president made a pronouncement that civil servants will get their bonuses but it is not the function of the president to go and put money in people’s hands; there are ministers of finance and minister of labour. That is their function, to work out how the payment should be made. Surely you don’t expect the president to go and say ‘pay them I am waiting to see you pay them here’.
