Judge Martin Makonese of the Bulawayo High court has ordered Minister of Agriculture, Joseph Made to unconditionally reinstate Godfrey Maoneke. Maoneke was employed by the ministry as an accountant before being fired in 2014. He was fired on allegations of financial impropriety. After being fired he contested the decision at the Labour Court, where he won. He then applied to the High court to have the order confirmed.
Judge Makonese ruled in his favour saying:
The first respondent is, hereby, ordered to reinstate the applicant without loss of salary and benefits. The respondent shall pay the costs of this application on a legal practitioner-client scale.
