Dynamos blame economy following player exodus

Dynamos acting secretary-general Webster Marechera says the club has not been spared by the harsh economic climate prevailing in the country and there is nothing much they can do to tie down players at the club who are likely to leave following the expiry of  their contracts.

Dynamos are likely to lose skipper Stephen Alimenda, Ocean Mushure, goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, Masimba Mambare, Godknows Murwira, Kudzanai Nyakasaka as well as young Brett Amidu whose contracts end on December 31. The club is yet to open negotiations with any of the players since they do not have a sponsor to bankroll their recruitment drive.

Marechera said some of the players are interested in playing for Dynamos next season and are willing to wait while the club sorts out its financial problems but he however said that the club will not stand in the way of a player should something come up. As a result of the club’s financial challenges, they are now promoting juniors into the senior team.
