A video of Believe Kativho, who sales mazhanje and green mealies along Borrowdale Road in Harare has been circulating on WhatsApp of him accepting payments via a swipe machine.

The vendor spoke to The Herald and said that he turned to plastic money after realising that he was losing customers who use plastic money because he only accepted payments in cash. He also said it was easy to acquire a point-of-sale machine which he was offered at $50 per month after negotiations.
