Bornwell Sibanda (23) from Hwange, who punched a DJ, Moustaffa Mbewe (24), several times before stabbing him with a broken beer bottle for refusing to re-play the song ‘Disappear’ by Winky D, has been sentenced to seven months in jail.

Sibanda pleaded guilty to assault when he appeared before magistrate Sharon Rosemani who suspended 3 months on conditions. The court heard that Sibanda approached Mbewe and requested that he repeats the song Disappear but he refused which resulted in Sibanda punching him several times before stabbing him with a broken bottle on the back of the left ear.

Mbewe sustained a minor cut and was taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital where he was treated and discharged while Sibanda was arrested but the case only went to court recently on summons.
