Harare Mayor, Bernard Manyenyeni has said that his plans to turn Harare into a world class city have been derailed by the introduction of the bond notes. Manyenyeni wanted to turn Harare into a world class city by 2025. He also took a swipe at the government, saying it was not world class.
Addressing people at the end of year Meet the Mayor public meeting, Manyunyeni said:
The world class city must be a complete composite arrangement including a world class government. You must ask yourself and answer the question: can a government led by President Robert Mugabe be termed or described as a world class government? And if you can have an answer, it is part of the answer to whether Harare can be a world class city
If we have a bond Mayor we won’t be able to reach a world class target.
