Govt to construct 100 schools countrywide
Government is set to construct 100 schools countrywide with topographic surveys of the construction sites already underway.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora, said that the schools will be built under a Build and Transfer arrangement. He also revealed that 17 satellite schools will be built under a $20 million grant from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).
Said Dokora:
Adverts were done and we’re in the processes of appointing consultants and shortlisting private partners. Processes and procedures of tendering must be fulfilled and there should be no shortcuts. The private partners will fund the construction of schools and hand them over to the Ministry upon completion under a Build and Transfer arrangement.
