Political activists, Pastor Evan Mawarire, Linda Masarira, Patson Dzamara, Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and legislator Jessie Majome have been nominated for the Community Human Rights Defenders Award in the People’s Choice category.
According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Association website, the awards are in their fifth year and seek to extend recognition and acknowledge the good works being undertaken by ordinary Zimbabwean citizens to extraordinarily advance, promote, respect and protect human rights in the country. Voting closes at 8pm on Friday the 25th of November 2016. People can vote via the organisation’s Facebook page, their Twitter account (@ZimRightsAwards) and their WhatsApp number +263773 789 874.
