MDC-T has expressed disappointment following reports that the Zimbabwe National Army is recruiting thousands of new soldiers at a time when government is unable to pay salaries.
In a statement released by MDC-T spokesperson, Obert Gutu on Monday, Morgan Tsvangirai’s party called on SADC as well as the African Union and the United Nations to keep a monitor the deteriorating political situation in Zimbabwe in the wake of these reports.
Gutu said the opposition was concerned that the massive recruitment exercise was linked to the crunch 2018 polls, warning that the ruling Zanu PF party was likely readying to unleash violence on opponents.
