Another former Zanla commander, Francis Komboni Gondo, has dismissed Zimbabwe People First and former Vice President, Joice Mujuru‘s war narrative and has said that Mujuru was not in the first group of 74 female recruits who joined the liberation struggle in 1974.

In an interview with the state owned Sunday Mail, Gondo said that Mujuru received basic military training for three weeks under the “Chimbi-Chimbi” programme which was meant to teach liberation war fighters some of the basic war tactics. He goes on to say that the only female comrades who received proper training are these 72 who trained at Nachingweya who were trained for four-and-a-half months.

He goes on to say that Mujuru was trained by these women. He goes on to list other people who were part of the three week training programme which include; Rugare Gumbo, Henry Hamadziripi, Kumbirai Kangai and Richard Hove. Gondo also said that Mujuru’s late husband, Solomon Mujuru made one of the females named Tichahwina pregnant.
