Chombo given ultimatum to pay Mutare businessman $1,5 million or risk jail

High Court Judge, Justice Owen Tagu has given Home Affairs Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo a 14 day ultimatum to pay Mutare businessman, Blessing Mangwiro, $1,5 million, which was seized by the police in 2012, or risk being found in contempt of court.

However, this is not the first time the minister has been ordered to do so as he has failed to comply with previous judgments which have forced Mangwiro to seek execution of government property. The businessman’s cash was seized as an exhibit but when the matter was finalised the cash could not be found.
