Local producers urged to enter EU ethnic foods market

ZimTrade, Zimbabwe’s export promotion body , has urged Zimbabwean producers to tap into the European Union’s rising demand for ethinc foods such as spices and herbs.  This rising demand has been attributed to the growing multicultural populations in Europe.

In a statement ZimTrade said:

Zimbabwean producers can tap into these opportunities, especially in smaller or niche markets focusing on special varieties, improved quality and sustainability.

According to the trade map, a ZimTrade tool showing the concentration of exports, Zimbabwe has not been exporting spices and herbs to the EU for the past four years.
