UZ “demonstrator” fined, but is yet to receive degree.

Tonderai Dombo, the University of Zimbabwe student, who demonstrated in front of President Mugabe during a graduation ceremony in September has been fined $50.   This comes after the University’s Disciplinary Committee found him guilty of braching rules of student’s conduct under Ordinance 30.  However, four other protestors were found not guilty.

Denford Halimani, one of the lawyers who represented the students said

The disciplinary committee recommended a $50 fine and a final warning for Dombo. We will wait to see if the vice chancellor will confirm or change that. In Rushwaya’s case, the committee agreed that he was no longer a student so they could deliberate on it . . . the others were acquitted
