Mugabe appeals to Zuma
Speaking at the opening of the Bi-National Commission in Harare soon after Jacob Zuma’s arrival, President Robert Mugabe appealed for a strong relationship with his South African counterpart to tackle political assaults in the country. Mugabe added that the Bi-National Commission is a positive step towards economic and political ties between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
He said,
Comrade President, we need each other more as we face renewed assaults on our independence and sovereignty. This close up in the economic and political sphere is the best way for our countries to relate. Our relations demand that we work closely, in a manner that will make Limpopo River, the physical colonial boundary imposed between us, meaningless. Let us, therefore, work together to improve the flow of investments in both direction, in a manner that reinforces partnerships between us.
