Govt approaches South Africa over renewal of work permits for Zimbabweans

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa, Mr Isaac Moyo says negotiations for the renewal of the Zimbabwean special dispensation permits have begun between the ministries of home affairs of the two countries.

Ambassador Moyo told ZBC News that Zimbabwe’s Home Affairs Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo has been engaging his South African counterpart to ensure that Zimbabweans living, studying and working in South Africa renew their documents with ease.

In 2014, nearly 300 000 Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa got special dispensation to get their permits and visas processed in that country without having to return home.

However, their documents will expire on the 31st of December 2017.
