Kasukuwere taken to court for allocating stands to Zanu PF members only

Residents’ Forum has filed an urgent High Court application seeking to stop local government minister Saviour Kasukuwere from allocating housing stands to Zanu PF youths only. Represented by Harare lawyer and opposition politician Douglas Mwonzora, the group which is led by Denford Ngadzore argues that allocation of housing stands is the duty of local authorities and not the minister.

Kasukuwere is cited as the 1st respondent with the Attorney General and Harare City Council as 2nd and 3rd respondents respectively. In the court application, the residents’ group lists areas where Kasukuwere has allocated stands to Zanu PF members only for example in Mbare where Kasukuwere offered 1,500 hectares of land to Zanu PF youths at a ruling party rally.

The leader of the group, Ngadzore said  wrote to Kasukuwere in July expressing his concern over partisan distribution of the stands. However, up to now there has been no response from the minister or ministry officials.
