Mutare City Council forced to re-advertise town clerk post after shortlisted candidates were rejected

Mutare City Council has reportedly been forced to invite fresh applications for the town clerk’s post after its shortlisted candidates were rejected by the Local Government Board (LGB). Mayor Tatenda Nhamarare confirmed the development yesterday, saying the council was planning to re-advertise the post this week.

Speaking to NewsDay he said,

We are going to re-advertise for the town clerk’s position this week after the Local Government Board rejected the other two candidates and, as council, we decided to re-advertise for the post, as we were given that option.

The three candidates whose CVs had been submitted to the LGB include current Rusape town secretary, Joshua Maligwa, Christian Sithole and Ronnie Dube. The seat fell vacant after former town clerk, Obert Muzawazi quit the post early this year after being implicated in various financial misdemeanours during an audit sanctioned by Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
