German company refuses to print bond notes for Zimbabwe

German company Giesecke & Devrient has rejected Zimbabwe’s request to print Bond Notes prompting Treasury to turn to South Africa and other countries for help.

Sources revealed to The Zimbabwe Independent that the German company which has previously printed money for Zimbabwe in 2008 is reluctant to print the surrogate currency as the exact terms of the Afreximbank loan facility continue to be surrounded in secrecy.

An official from the German Embassy in Harare told The Zimbabwe Independent,

According to the information that we have from the said company, it will not print bond notes for the Government of Zimbabwe. Other than that I cannot say more.
