Biti to replace defectors next month

Tendai Biti’s opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will soon convene an elective policy conference to fill posts left vacant following a spate of defections by senior leaders. Posts left vacant by the deserters will be filled at the party’s policy review conference set for the second week of November in Harare.

PDP spokesperson Jacob Mafume said the party has already opened nominations to fill vacancies left by the defectors. Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com Mafume said,

We are going to fill the gaps left by those members who have departed at our national policy review conference during the second week of November. Provinces have already started nominating their preferred candidates to fill the vacant leadership positions.

Some of the former PDP big wigs who have left the party include deputy national chairman, Watchy Sibanda, former deputy organizing secretary, Gift Mabhena, Gladys Mathe and Paul Madzore.
