Patson Dzamara gives update on UZ students. Says the two were not abducted

In a Facebook post, political activist Patson Dzamara gave an update on the two University of Zimbabwe graduates, Tonderai Dombo and Alexander Makamba, who were arrested yesterday for raising placards demanding jobs. Dzamara allayed abduction fears saying that the two were arrested and are at Harare Central Police Station.

Part of the statement by Dzamara reads

After receiving information that their whereabouts were not known, I went to Harare Central Police Station this morning looking for them. I met the investigation officer handling their case. They were not abducted, they were arrested and they are at Harare Central Police Station. According to the papers I breezed my eyes through, they are being charged with criminal nuisance. They are being represented by advocate Mtisi of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights. Details regarding their appearance in court will be availed soon.

He was asked by the investigating officer why he was folloewing up on the two. His response as he wrote was rather simple,

When the officer asked me why I was following up on them seeing that I am not a lawyer, my response was simple. I told him that they are my brothers and I am obligated to be a brother’s keeper. We can’t go on with our lives without knowing the whereabouts of other people, especially those who are standing in the gap for us, fighting for a better Zimbabwe.
