ZCTU President, Nkiwane, to step down
Current president of Zimbabwe Congress Trade Unions (ZCTU) president, George Nkiwane, is set to step down as the organisation prepares to elect new leaders.  Nkiwane’s 5-year term ended on August 31, 2016. ZCTU today started it’s 3 day conference in Harare where the new leaders will be elected.
Candidates vying to succeed Nkiwane include current Zimbabwe Banks and Allied Workers Union (ZIBAWU) president, Peter Mutasa who is is also current ZCTU third vice president. A Special General Council will meet at the beginning of the conference to open nominations for positions.
Said Nkiwane:
I am leaving the position a very happy man. Zimbabwe must know that I am not running for another term. I am against this handiende (I won’t go anywhere) culture.
