CBZ Holdings Limited has sealed an agreement to acquire a 31.22 per cent stake in First Mutual Holdings Limited held by the National Social Security Authority (NSSA). 
In a statement on Thursday, CBZ Holdings Limited said:

Further to the cautionary statements issued on 30 May 2021, 28 July, 1 September and 5 October, the directors of CBZ Holdings Limited wish to advise shareholders that, following conclusions of negotiations, the company has now executed an agreement for the acquisition of 31.22% shareholding in First Mutual Holdings from the National Social Security Authority (NSSA).
The agreement is subject to several conditions precedent, which if fulfilled and the transaction is successfully concluded, may have a material effect on the price of the company’s securities.

The sale is part of CBZ’s ambitions to extend its influence in the financial services market. 
According to RBZ data, CBZ, Zimbabwe’s biggest bank by assets, accounts for 31 per cent of all bank loans in the country.
The First Mutual deal is CBZ’s biggest acquisition of another financial institution since it bought Beverley Building Society in 2007. 
The financial services group said, in light of the development, shareholders should continue to exercise caution when dealing in the company’s securities until a full announcement is made.

CBZ Holdings Acquires 31.22% Stake In First Mutual Holdings Held By NSSA

CBZ Holdings has called for workers’ voluntary resignations from the organisation amid a restricting exercise. The voluntary resignations were announced in CBZ’s internal letter that indicated the applications will have been approved or denied by the 18th of May. We present the letter in full below.

Following the Voluntary Severance exercise, the Organisation shall review any remaining positions which have been impacted by the change in the way we do business.
Upon that review of the Voluntary Severance exercise, should it be found that we do indeed need to consider retrenchment, our retrenchment exercise will commence in June 2021, and will take place in liaison with the affected employees, Works Council, Workers Committee and the Management Committee, and will be fully aligned to the legislative guidelines.
We understand that such a time may result in anxiety for many members of staff. Communication is key for us, and we would like to ensure that this process takes place transparently and fairly, and it is this principle which has made it important for us to lay out our future plans.

FULL TEXT: Restructuring CBZ Call For Voluntary Resignations

CBZ Holdings has introduced a new logo which the bank says is in line with global standards. In a statement, the Group Executive Marketing and Corporate Affairs Matilda Nyathi said:
<blockquote>In line with global standards, CBZ Holdings’ new logo has been refreshed by dropping the restrictive and dated rectangular shape. The 3D red and orange ‘button’ has been transformed into a timeless solid red circle. The circle symbolises unity, wholeness and infinity. In this case, it speaks to our ability to protect and grow clients’ wealth and continued provision of innovative products – all premised on a solid foundation. The bold font on the acronym CBZ denotes confidence and strength.
It is rendered in a lowercase sans serif font – a modern and elegant font – that conveys simplicity and approachability. Since this is a logo refresh and not a break from our rich heritage, the red and blue colours were maintained in the new visual identity,

PICTURES: CBZ Gets A New Logo

A member of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Presidential Advisory Council (PAC) who is also the chairman of Alpha Media Holdings, Trevor Ncube has expressed sadness over the “cash withdrawal scandal” in the country.
His remarks come after pictures of huge amounts of new coins and notes which were withdrawn from Ecobank and CBZ made rounds on social media this week with some alleging that the banks were feeding cash into the parallel market.
The central bank, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe conducted investigations which implicated the two banks who revealed that the cash was legally withdrawn by their customers.
Meanwhile, some depositors are, as per the RBZ regulations only allowed to withdraw a maximum of $300 which is insignificant considering that the economy is inflationary.
Posting on Twitter after all the drama, Ncube said that the scandal represented the egocentric mindset of the nation as a whole. He said:
<blockquote>Watching this cash withdrawal scandal has been disheartening. Greed, institutional and corporate malfeasance and corruption have become a strong subculture. It is our collective national psyche that is in full display. We are so broken.</blockquote>
The new notes and coins were released this Tuesday and it seems as if cash dealers on the parallel market have more cash than official traders.

ED Advisor Condemns Cash Withdrawal Scandals

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has said that it will take disciplinary measures to individuals who took pictures of new notes and coins withdrawn from Ecobank and CBZ and circulated them on social media.
The central bank argues that the individuals intended to cause disorder in the country.
The pictures which circulated on social media suggested that Ecobank and CBZ were injecting cash into the black market when other account holders are failing to acces their money at the same banks.

We would the to advise the public that this case has been investigated by the Bank and it involves a CBZ Bank customer. Investigations by RBZ at CBZ indicated that an amount of ZW$44,180 was withdrawn by one of their customers. In this regard, CBZ Bank together with their customer are now assisting the Zimbabwe Republic Police with further investigations.
As advised in our earlier Press Statement, appropriate disciplinary measures shall be taken against those bent on damaging confidence by placing such pictures on social media platforms. Such behaviour causes unnecessary anxiety and despondency within the economy.

RBZ To Punish Individuals Who Circulated Pictures Of Cash From CBZ And Ecobank

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has in a statement this Thursday threatened to take appropriate disciplinary action against Central Bank of Zimbabwe Holdings (CBZ) over alleged money laundering.
The statement is issued following the circulation of a picture of a bin container full of bond coins on social media.
Earlier, the central bank also issued a similar statement on Ecobank which had also allowed a single customer to withdraw ZW$15 000.

FULL TEXT: RBZ Threatens "Appropriate Disciplinary Measures" Against CBZ Over Alleged Money Laundering

CBZ Holdings has appointed Dr Blessing Mudavanhu as the Group Chief Executive Officer.
In a statement, CBZ Group Legal Corporate Secretary, Rumbidzayi Jakanani said Mudavanhu has been appointed with effect from June 1, 2018. Part of the statement reads:
<blockquote>The Board of Directors of CBZ Holdings Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Blessing Mudavanhu as the Group Chief Executive Officer for CBZ Holdings Limited. His appointment is with effect from 1 June 2018.  Dr Mudavanhu has over 15 years experience in the regional and international financial services markets. He also brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in risk management.</blockquote>
Mudavanhu received his Doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Washington (USA) and a Masters degree in Financial Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley (USA). Upon completion of his studies, he joined American International Group (AIG) in New York as a Senior Risk Analytics Associate. Following his time at AIG, Dr Mudavanhu joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Director in Global Risk Management encompassing New York City, London, Mexico City and Sao Paulo. In 2009 he joined African Banking Corporation (BancABC) as Group Chief Risk Officer and served as Acting Group Chief Executive Officer for 2 years. Dr Mudavanhu left in January 2017 to set up Dura Capital LLC where Is he Is the Founder and Director.

CBZ Holdings Appoints Dr Blessing Mudavanhu As New CEO

In an interview with NewsDay CBZ Holdings (CBZH) chief executive officer Never Nyemudzo responded to claims that he was forced to retire following concerns raised by the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) over bad corporate governance practices. NSSA raised concerns after it emerged that CBZH was paying then board chairman Elliot Mugamu perks equal to those paid to executive directors.
Nyemudzo said that he was retiring voluntarily to look after his children. Said Nyemudzo:
<blockquote>I wanted to rest. This is a highest speed lane when you are leading such an institution, so you end up thinking of resting. I have been there since 2008, so this is year number 10 at CBZ, so it is not a short time. I am resting and taking care of the children.</blockquote>

Outgoing CBZ ceo speaks on allegations he was forced to retire

CBZ Holdings has revealed that the profit after tax for the half year ending June 30 2017, increased by a mere 0.8 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. According to financial results, the group posted a profit of $11,95 million compared to last year’s $11.92 million. Cash shortages and scarcity of foreign currency have been blamed.
CBZ Holdings group chief executive officer, Never Nyemudzo said
<blockquote>We are quite blessed to have clients, who have been supporting us despite the fact that they may not get as much as they would have wanted, but still want to continue to be loyal to the bank
Our thrust is to continue to deploy more of these e-platforms so that the issue of cash can become less and less. But, again, when you deploy these e-platforms you also have to speak to the issue of costs. What costs are people transacting on these e-platforms? That is why in our branches we are putting in self-service centres.</blockquote>

Reactions to Grace Mugabe's alleged $1,3 million ring.

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/CBZ_Holdings" target="_blank">CBZ  Holdings</a> will provide funding for 20 young entrepreneurs.  The entrepreneurs were selected from 1 260 participants from across all 10 provinces after attending Youth Entrepreneur Programme (YEP) workshops.  The funding will range from $300 to $1 000 and will be used for businesses purposes only.  CBZ Holdings said that it has aside $35 000 for the YEP programme.

CBZ Holdings to fund 20 young entrepreneurs

Servicing of roads and sewer infrastructure under the <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/CBZ_Holdings">CBZ Holdings</a> $12 million housing project in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Victoria_Falls">Victoria Falls</a> has started with the financial institution saying actual work on housing structures will start in March next year.
The bank unveiled a $12 million housing project in the resort town targeting close to 1 174 residential stands as part of its efforts to complement Government’s efforts to provide houses to low income earners. Of these about 1 008 will be high density and the remaining 166 stands being medium density housing in line with the financial institution’s strategy to deliver low cost housing.
The housing project covers the Buffer Zone between Mkhosana and Chinotimba suburbs as well as along Victoria Falls-Kazungula Road and south of Mkhosana.CBZ Holdings chief executive Mr Never Nyemudzo led a team from the bank on a tour of the project last week accompanied by municipality housing director Mr Lot Siatimbula.
He said all the stands had been taken and the bank was now working on mortgages for beneficiaries who will soon be announced once the process is completed,
<blockquote>We came to assess progress to see how far we have gone with roads, sewer and water and to see how many people from the waiting list have been forwarded to the bank. I am glad to announce that all stands have been taken up. When we launched in July we made some promises and we can only achieve these by monitoring progress. So far tremendous progress has been made as we have opened roads everywhere and out of the 15km we are supposed to do, 8km has been worked on.</blockquote>
The roads have been surfaced with the first two bases before the final surface.
