Tsvangirai on life support system, airlifted to SA after health deteriorated

Former prime minister and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai is reported to be in critical condition after he was airlifted to South Africa early yesterday. Tsvangirai is reported to have been transported while on life support system after his condition quickly deteriorated from the time he started vomiting during lunch. He had been attending an MDC Alliance strategic meeting.

Sources who spoke to NewsDay said:

He travelled on H.A.C Reg ZS – MBS at 0200hrs and was transported in an Ace ambulance from a local hospital before he was airlifted to South Africa.

…He was on oxygen and drip and had been vomiting heavily. We are not sure what happened to him, but the situation is extremely bad and the president really needs our prayers.

Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka refused to comment on the matter saying:
