Donation of 2 000 wild animals was approved by Cabinet

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) spokesperson Mr Tinashe Farawo said that the donation of 2 000 wild animals to Mozambique was approved by Cabinet in April. He said that the donation was done under the Great Limpopo Trans Frontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA) which involves Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique.

Farawo said that under the agreement, South Africa will also be donating 4 000 animals to Mozambique. He said despite the Cabinet approval the animals are yet to be translocated to Mozambique. Said Farawo:

Cabinet on the 11th of April 2017 approved the donation of 2 000 animals to Mozambique and all due processes were followed before the translocation. However, despite all the processes being followed the animals are yet to be translocated to Mozambique. The donation followed ministerial engagements through Great Limpopo Trans frontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA) regarding development of the Mozambique component of the TFCA.
