Highlanders may use breathalyzers to stop drunk fans from entering the Stadium
Premier League side Highlanders Football Club which has gained widespread negative attention for acts of hooliganism by some of its fans, is contemplating the use of breathalysers. The team wants to stop drunk fans from entering Barbourfields when Highlanders is playing at home.
A breathalyzer is a device used by police for measuring the amount of alcohol in a driver’s breath.
Highlanders Chief Executive Officer, Nhlanhla Dube said:
As a club we believe that the issue of crowd trouble must be looked at as a problem that needs to be confronted by all stakeholders.
Using breathlysers is just one of the many options to deal with the problem. We can get to a point where we say if someone is at a certain level of intoxication then they must not be allowed into a stadium.
