Speaking to scores of war collaborators, ex-detainees, ex-restrictees, widows of fallen heroes, non-combatant cadres and war victims in Harare on Saturday, President Robert Mugabe revealed that some of his party members wished him dead. He also said that he was ready to give up if his comrades told him he was doing a bad job.
Kana ndichikanganisa mondiudza (kuti) ndakanganisa (please tell me if I am doing wrong), I will go. We are in a critical time yeregime change.
He also spoke on the factional issues in his party and said,
Corruption iriko, nekuparty. Kuparty hameno vanhu varikufana varonga succession, hanzi kamudhara ikaka kachafa rinhiko? Kari kuramba kufa. Kakachera kupiko? Ko ndinofirei? Ndinofireyi kana Mwari asati ada kuti chiuya. Ko ndiri kutadza here nhai vakomana? (Corruption is rife in the party. Those plotting my succession go about wondering when I am going to die. They wonder what keeps me going. Why should I die when my creator has not yet summoned me? Am I doing so bad!)
