Zanu PF says it does not plan to repossess Norton stands despite losing to Mliswa

Zanu PF says it has no plans to repossess the 5,000 residential stands given to youths in Norton following the ruling party’s defeat to independent candidate Temba Mliswa over the weekend. Speaking in separate interviews with NewZimbabwe.com on Monday, Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere and party youth league secretary Kudzai Chipanga said Zanu PF does not harbour any ill feelings towards the land beneficiaries even after the defeat.

Kasukuwere simply said,

We are not vindictive.

While Chipanga who was also quoted in the local media as having threatened to repossess stands from the youths if Zanu PF lost the by-election said,

We don’t have that policy of repossessing any land which would have been given to black people. Instead, we are going to acquire more land to give to our people. That’s the policy that the current government has been pursuing. The president has said the government is going to avail land for residential purposes in all the urban setups so that our people can have decent accommodation.
